Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to trusting my values, advocating for myself, and being willing to step forward when opportunities arise. One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is being someone colleagues and women across generations turn to for advice, advocacy, and guidance—being a trusted resource is deeply meaningful to me. I also learned the importance of knowing my worth by leaving a role after I had built and defined it with integrity, and choosing the next step on my own terms, guided by the belief that life is short and growth requires courage.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my parents, who moved to the U.S. from South Africa with me and my two brothers. They always encouraged us to pursue our dreams and reminded me that the worst thing that could happen is not trying—so I learned early on to just go for it. Their support and belief in me continue to inspire the way I approach opportunities and challenges in my career.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to be honest with yourself and those around you, but don’t be afraid to go for it and expand your horizons. Take chances, try new things, and remember that a “no” can sometimes be a “maybe”—always look for solutions and keep doors open. Consider the worst-case scenario so that fear doesn’t hold you back, and always be truthful about your experience—never exaggerate skills you don’t yet have.
