What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to making my father and his hard work and dedication that clearly inspired me and motivated me throughout life. My father's perseverance and determination to build your family home from scratch and work for everything he had is a testament to his strength of character and the values is instilled within me. By striving to make my father proud, I've adopted his work ethic and dedication, applying these principles to my own endeavors. I have successfully made a testament to his influence and the love and respect you have for him. That's why I went to college to continue honoring your father's legacy by setting new goals and challenges; and that education equipped me with the skills and knowledge to pursue my goals. Which helped stay true to the values he taught me. Being an independent, successful, and career focus individual was all contributed to making my father proud and striving for excellence and living my life with purpose and integrity to make a difference in this life. I'd also like to thank my husband, Louis Roque. Having a supportive partner can make all the difference in navigating the highs and lows of my career that also has goals. His unwavering support has undoubtedly played a crucial role in my success, providing me with a stable foundation and encouragement during good times and challenging times.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

We are here to evolve, to grow, to learn and to become better version of ourselves. That's why I'm constantly learning and growing; taking on challenges that me inspired in continuing my education in Master of Science in Human Resources at Rasmussen College, an online college.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Working in Long-term Care requires a deep understanding of the emotional and physical needs of the elderly, their families, and the staff who care for them. Cultivate empathy to excel in your role. HR professionals must effectively communicate with people from all walks of life, from residents and their families to healthcare workers, administrators, and government agencies. Develop strong written and verbal communication skills.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Attracting and hiring highly skilled professionals is becoming increasingly competitive, requiring HR Professionals like me to develop innovative recruitment strategies. Opportunities would be focusing on enhancing the overall employee experience can lead to increased satisfaction, engagement, and retention.
