Emalee Gibson, SHRM-CP
Emalee Gibson, SHRM-CP is a Human Resources Generalist at Group 1 Automotive, where she manages employee relations for more than 1,000 employees across the Gulf Coast region. With over nine years of experience in the company, she has built a career marked by growth, leadership, and a passion for people. Emalee began her professional journey in the Management Trainee Program after earning her Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management from the University of South Alabama. Following an early role in finance, she transitioned into human resources—drawn by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on workplace culture and employee well-being. Today, she oversees critical HR functions including open enrollment and employee relations while pursuing her MBA at Mississippi State University, where she is a member of both the Beta Gamma Sigma and Golden Key Honor Societies.
Beyond her professional role, Emalee is deeply engaged in her community and church. As an active member of the Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport , she plays a key role in organizing charitable initiatives, including co-chairing the Split the Pot portion of the JAG charity ball fundraiser. Her passion for service and leadership extends beyond the workplace, reflecting her commitment to both professional excellence and community impact. Emalee often credits her success to her supportive husband, who shares equally in household responsibilities and encourages her career aspirations as she prepares to welcome their first child in January.

What do you attribute your success to?
My husband is my biggest cheerleader and fan! I couldn’t do all of the things I do without him. He works hard to help us maintain a happy home so I can go do all the things I do. He is my rock, best friend, and I couldn’t balance everything without him!
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Ask questions and make mistakes. I was told everything is fixable, but the best way to learn is through experience. A mess can be cleaned up, and often you learn more from your mistakes than your successes.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be proud of where you are, this is a great field to be a part of! Ask every question you can, write down all the advice you get, and carry yourself with confidence!
