Georgia Traver

Georgia Traver is a project manager and Terra.do Climate Fellow committed to shaping a cleaner and more sustainable future. With more than six years of experience leading projects across healthcare, IT, and renewable energy, she has earned a reputation for driving systemic change with clarity and purpose.
Her graduate studies at Boston University culminated in a capstone project for Ørsted, where she designed an AI-driven enterprise architecture strategy that improved offshore wind operations by 15 percent and increased maintenance efficiency by 20 percent. As Project Manager at HMSA, Hawaii’s largest health insurer, she spearheaded an enterprise-wide transformation that reduced vendor contract expirations by 96 percent through automation, cross-functional alignment, and smarter systems.
Beyond her professional achievements, Georgia integrates her values into every aspect of her life. Inspired by her farming roots, she tends her garden, practices no-waste principles, and embraces whole food cooking that celebrates “eating the rainbow.” Alongside her husband, she cares for their rescue husky and cats, and she volunteers at a local bee apiary. Guided by integrity, compassion, and the conviction to lead by example, Georgia channels her resilience and purpose into building a future where sustainability and community thrive together.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, intuition, and the guidance of those who have stood in my corner. Each defining moment in my life has stemmed from trusting my instincts and embracing the courage to pursue change, even in the face of uncertainty. I have learned to adapt swiftly, to rise after setbacks, and to continue striving toward something greater. Along the way, I have been fortunate to have mentors and peers who believed in me and offered their support. This combination of inner resolve and external encouragement has shaped the leader I aspire to be—one who takes bold steps forward while extending the same compassion and guidance to others.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The most valuable career advice I've ever been given is to abandon the pursuit of feeling completely prepared before embarking on the next phase of my journey. In my experience, genuine advancement and personal development occur when one dares to move forward even in the absence of all the necessary answers, embraces a degree of discomfort, and places unwavering trust in their own ability to navigate challenges and find solutions as they arise.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to women entering the industry is to kick the door open, even when it resists, and step inside with confidence. This counsel is not confined to those just beginning their careers, but extends to women of every age and stage, as age is nothing more than a number and should never dictate one’s capacity for reinvention. Trust in your skills, claim your place, and resist the urge to wait for permission to lead. At the same time, embody grace and compassion, for true strength lies in the ability to create impact while honoring the dignity of those around you.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
A significant challenge in this field remains its deeply male-dominated structure, which can limit visibility and recognition for women. Yet within this challenge lies a profound opportunity: to reshape the narrative, dismantle barriers, and broaden the table for more diverse voices. The path forward requires both courage and humility—the resolve to lead boldly, and the wisdom to listen and bring others along in pursuit of lasting progress.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values I hold most closely are integrity, compassion, and the conviction to lead by example. I am driven by the desire to make a meaningful impact, to stand firmly for what I believe in, and to pursue work that uplifts others. These values extend beyond my professional life into my daily choices, from advocating for environmental protection and animal rights to embracing sustainable practices in my home and garden. For me, success is not measured solely by results, but by the positive difference left in the lives of people, communities, and the world around me.
