Krystal Walker is the proud owner of 1st Amazon Construction Services LLC, a certified woman-owned roofing and construction company based in Maryland. With over two decades of experience in the roofing industry, Krystal has built a business that stands on integrity, quality, and dependability. Her company is fully licensed, insured, and bonded, holding MBE, DBE, and SBE certifications, and is dedicated to providing top-tier residential and commercial roofing solutions throughout the region.
Krystal’s journey in the construction field began humbly in 2004 when she started as a receptionist. Through perseverance, hands-on experience, and an unwavering work ethic, she worked her way up to become a skilled roofer and, eventually, a successful business owner. Since founding 1st Amazon Roofing & More, Krystal has been involved in every aspect of operations—from project management and materials procurement to client relations and team leadership. Her approach emphasizes customer satisfaction, community trust, and professional excellence.
Beyond her entrepreneurial achievements, Krystal values mentorship and community engagement. She credits her mother, Maria Burks, her former boss Timothy Nickels, and Patrick Ellis III for guiding her growth and inspiring her leadership. A graduate of the Community College of Baltimore County, Krystal remains deeply committed to empowering other women in the trades and expanding opportunities for minority-owned businesses. Through 1st Amazon Construction Services, she continues to uphold her mission of keeping properties safe, dry, and built to last—one roof at a time.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the unwavering support and influence of my mother, my son, and my former boss. Each of them has shaped my journey in unique ways—my mother instilled in me resilience and determination, my son motivates me to be my best every day, and my former boss provided mentorship and guidance that helped me grow both personally and professionally.

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to focus on building genuine relationships rather than just selling the job. When you prioritize trust and connection, success naturally follows.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field right now are connecting with the right decision-makers and ensuring clients recognize the value of the services provided. At the same time, these challenges present opportunities to refine my approach, strengthen relationships, and demonstrate the tangible impact of what I offer.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values to me, both professionally and personally, are honesty, loyalty, and dedication. I believe in maintaining integrity in everything I do, staying committed to my goals, and continuously pushing myself to grow and improve. Having a strong drive keeps me motivated to overcome challenges and achieve lasting success.
