What do you attribute your success to?
Both my parents worked at Southwest Airlines and in high school I trained for my private license I enjoyed the field but I knew I wanted to be able to have more of a balanced home life and I pivoted .I started my journey with a private pilot's license and a degree in professional flight. Early on, I interned with Southwest Airlines, which gave me a strong foundation and a clear sense of the industry's dynamics. Eventually, I found my niche in aviation management, where I’ve been able to contribute to compliance, safety, and operational leadership.specialize in ground handling and oversee compliance and regulatory programs. One of the key projects I’ve led is the Envoy Safety Challenge, which focuses on strengthening our safety culture across airport operations. I also manage staffing and training, making sure safety and efficiency remain top priorities.Safety is foundational in aviation, and it starts with the people on the ground. I’ve worked hard to implement programs that don’t just meet regulatory standards but exceed them, with a focus on building a team culture where every employee feels responsible and empowered. My Lean Six Sigma certification and aviation safety training have supported that mission.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Work will still be there tomorrow prioritizing work life balance is important to have time of.Take care of your people. In ground handling, your team is everything. Empower them, train them, and support a culture of safety and accountability. Protect your work-life balance. Leadership doesn’t mean burnout. I carve out time for my hobbies—whether it’s skeet shooting, gardening, or dancing. A well-rounded life fuels long-term success.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don’t take things personally, and don’t expect everyone to like you.In leadership—especially in operational environments like ground handling—you have to make tough calls and stand by your decisions. Early in my career, I struggled with being a people-pleaser, but I’ve learned that respect is more important than popularity. Once I let go of trying to win everyone over, I became a stronger, more focused leader.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Recruitment and retention are major hurdles. The industry often struggles with low entry-level wages and limited formal education requirements, which affects morale and retention. One thing I’ve learned is how important it is to manage relationships wisely and to let go of the need to please everyone. You have to lead authentically and stay grounded in your values.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, strong dedication ,good time management are important I love dancing, skeet shooting, and gardening—they help me reset. I’m also involved in charity work with St. Jude and local animal shelters. Giving back keeps me connected and aligned with my core values.
