I attribute my success to dedication, resilience, and a commitment to public service. Beginning with my background in computer programming, I chose to dedicate my skills to improving local government operations. Over the past 33 years, I have continually expanded my role beyond traditional clerk duties, modernized town systems, and prioritized transparency and integrity in serving the residents of Richmondville.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to lead with integrity and fairness. Staying true to ethical principles allows you to earn trust, build strong relationships, and make a meaningful impact on your community.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women to actively engage in local government, where their contributions can create real change. Remain resilient in the face of challenges, advocate for equity, and seek opportunities to educate yourself and influence positive governance.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

A major challenge in local government is overcoming systemic gender bias and ensuring accountability in governance. However, this also presents an opportunity to mentor the next generation of women leaders, promote transparency, and modernize municipal operations to better serve communities.

Integrity, fairness, and service are the core values I uphold in both my professional and personal life. I strive to leave every interaction and community stronger than I found it. Resilience, gratitude, and active engagement with my community guide my approach to challenges and life transitions.
