Mai Pham

Mai Pham is an accomplished Wine Director and Advanced Certified Sommelier with a deep-rooted passion for hospitality and fine dining. With a Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality F&B Management – Beverage Management from Kendall College in Chicago, Mai brings over a decade of hands-on experience in upscale and Michelin-starred restaurants. Her expertise spans all aspects of wine service, program development, and guest experience, making her a respected leader in the luxury dining space.
Currently serving as Restaurant Assistant General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Mai previously held leadership roles at The St. Regis Toronto, where she earned the restaurant its first Wine Spectator "Best of Award of Excellence." She has curated award-winning wine lists and led beverage programs that blend precision, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Mai’s professional journey also includes roles at iconic establishments such as Don Alfonso 1890 and Air Canada’s Signature Club, where her refined palate and service-forward approach consistently elevated the guest experience.
In addition to her operational roles, Mai is deeply involved in the wine and hospitality community. She has volunteered as a featured sommelier at events like the Wine Opener for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and participated in staging experiences at Everest Restaurant in Chicago. Bilingual in English and Vietnamese, Mai is known for her grace, depth of knowledge, and dedication to mentoring others in the industry. Her journey continues to be fueled by a love for wine, hospitality, and creating memorable moments through exceptional service.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being passionate about my work and knowing that I’m making a meaningful difference every day. That motivation drives me to stay committed and continuously improve.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to always do your best, stay focused on your goals, and be willing to go the extra mile to make a meaningful impact. Consistent effort and dedication open doors and create opportunities for growth.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges right now is finding people who are truly passionate about working in hospitality. There’s a real need for team members who bring enthusiasm and dedication to the role. At the same time, this challenge presents an opportunity to attract and nurture talent by creating supportive environments that inspire and retain passionate professionals.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important value to me, both in my work and personal life, is always doing my best. I believe that giving my full effort and staying committed to excellence helps me grow, make a positive impact, and build trust with those around me.
