Mary Alvey
Mary Alvey is a dedicated retail professional with over a decade of experience at Kohl’s. She began her journey with the company on August 18, 2014, as a part-time sales associate and, through her hard work and commitment, was promoted to Part-Time Flexible Role Lead in October 2021. Her dedication to her career reflects her belief in working toward one’s goals, making sacrifices when necessary, and striving for growth within her field.
Mary’s professional experience extends beyond retail. While attending Indiana University East, she held multiple roles on campus, including Student Hourly Assistant, Tutor, and Graf Fitness Center Specialist. She also contributed to her community through volunteer work with organizations such as the Baxter Neighborhood Center and the House of Hope in Dayton, Ohio. These experiences helped Mary develop strong organizational, time management, and leadership skills, which she continues to apply in her professional and personal life.
Outside of work, Mary is passionate about her faith and family. She enjoys playing the piano and participating in the choir ministry at Lighthouse Assembly of God in Richmond, Indiana. Mary earned her Bachelor of Arts in General Studies from Indiana University East in 2013 and credits her education and life experiences as instrumental in shaping her commitment to service, mentorship, and personal growth. She values integrity, dedication, and using her skills to positively impact those around her, both in the workplace and the community.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my professional and personal life are faith, service, and dedication. I am deeply committed to my faith and actively participate in the choir ministry at Lighthouse Assembly of God in Richmond, IN, where I also enjoy playing the piano. I take great joy in praising God and living a life of gratitude, including celebrating milestones such as earning my Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies from Indiana University East in 2013. I am thankful for the opportunities God has given me to grow, learn, and serve others.
Professionally, I bring dedication, teamwork, and a passion for helping others to every role I take on. I have been a part-time flexible sales associate at Kohl’s for over 11 years, gaining experience across multiple departments and mentoring new associates to ensure they succeed. I have been recognized as Employee of the Month twice, which I am proud to have earned through consistent hard work and commitment. I thrive in roles where I can support others, train team members, and contribute to a positive work environment.
Beyond work, I am committed to serving my community. I have volunteered as a service intern at Baxter Neighborhood, assisting with tutoring programs and after-school outreach initiatives, and at House of Hope in Dayton, Ohio, supporting registration efforts during events like the Labor of Love Mud Climb. I find fulfillment in helping people, giving back, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of others, both inside and outside the workplace.
