Q

What do you attribute your success to?

Meredith attributes her success to her lifelong immersion in art, the strong influence of her mother’s teaching around color theory, and her ability to quickly see connections between colors and patterns. She is deeply client-centered, creating custom murals rather than “one-style-fits-all” designs, and builds each project around the space’s purpose and the feeling the client wants people to experience when they walk in. With about 14 years of experience in design, she built a strong foundation in graphic design before transitioning into independent creative work and recently launched her own mural painting business, completing her first commercial mural project. Now a freelance muralist and designer, Meredith creates custom murals, patterns, and interior design concepts for both business and residential clients. Her workday includes meeting with clients to understand their vision, developing concepts aligned with space and brand goals, refining color palettes, and executing murals on-site with careful attention to flow, scale, and user experience. Her strongest expertise lies in translating a client’s personality, style, and business goals into cohesive visual environments through color, pattern, and composition, blending professional graphic design skills with fine art instincts, spatial awareness, and color theory to create intentional, emotionally aligned spaces.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Meredith identified her mother as her biggest mentor, because she grew up immersed in art and learned color theory directly from her, which still shapes how she pairs colors and builds patterns today. She also credits her clients and real project experiences as ongoing “mentors,” because each custom space teaches her what works, what doesn’t, and how to design murals that serve a purpose (flow, focus, and the feeling of the room).

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Meredith’s story reflects the importance of trusting your creative instincts while building real-world skills that make your talent usable for clients. She shows that learning how to listen, interpret needs, and design strategically can be the difference between being artistic and being successful in creative business.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Her biggest challenge right now is the intensity of launching a business while building momentum, visibility, and a portfolio that reflects her range. At the same time, she sees a major opportunity in businesses and homeowners wanting highly personalized, experience-driven spaces, where murals and custom design can make a location feel distinctive, memorable, and aligned with a brand.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Outside of work, Meredith enjoys swimming and has participated in triathlons, and she loves spending time outdoors. She is also a mom and shared how family life is part of her current season while she grows her business. She has a black lab named Penny Loafer and spends a lot of time outside with her, even joking that she’s resisting the urge to get another dog while she focuses on her launch.
