Q

What do you attribute your success to?

Perseverance

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Dr. Jeane Kirkpatrick, UN Ambassador, advised me to study humanities for it would propel me in my field and overall in life. A valuable piece of advice for what it means to be human is the basis for any artistic endeavor.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Two timeless quotes that perhaps best epitomizes the idea that being both prepared and adaptable is the advice given - The best laid plans of mice and men and even a mouse has more than one entrance.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Artificial Intelligence will present both opportunities and challenges to the voice artist community, as it will prove to be for many other professions and to our concepts of humanity. AI's conceptual potential to augment human efforts and ability to analyze large amounts of data is an opportunity that is likely most suitable for certain areas. Although despite intentions to provide observable objectivism, as in physics these systems are subject to a larger observer effect from historical and institutional biases incorporated from centuries of information. However, despite the challenges facing us with its advent, human emotional connection, imagination and creativity will play an essential role in retention of our humanity,. AI models seek, a "human touch" and data therefore vocal artists are needed. AI's creation, usage and ultimately its future importance is humankind's responsibility to handle intellectually, ethically and with guardrails. I don't think it is a tool that shines in all areas or should be used ubiquitously. In the near future, whether we learn to fully appreciate our humanity, and all of humankind which has a unique value that the creation (AI) can imitate, but not fully replicate (human creator) is up to each of us.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I appreciate honesty, forthrightness, and communication that establishes a sound format for working or personal relationships.
