Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a strong foundation in volunteering and tutoring, a continuous drive for learning—including earning my doctorate in 2017—and a commitment to time management, organization, and honest communication. These values have helped me grow from classroom teacher to vice principal while still making time for my family.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never give up and always believe in yourself, even when the path gets challenging.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering education is to avoid overplanning your entire year—while it's great to be ambitious, you'll quickly learn the importance of flexibility, time management, and prioritizing what truly matters for your students' growth.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in education right now is addressing the social and emotional gaps caused by COVID—many students struggle with basic interpersonal skills, like sharing and patience, and require ongoing support to relearn healthy peer interaction and delayed gratification.
