Q

What do you attribute your success to?

Attribute my success to my belief in hard work, self-improvement, and constant growth. I’m always seeking ways to challenge myself and become better in my role, and I view every life and career experience as an opportunity to strengthen my ability to communicate with diverse groups. My daughter, who is also in human resources, inspires me deeply—when she earned her master’s degree, it motivated me to pursue mine as well. We inspire each other, and I bring that same energy into my work, striving to encourage and uplift my colleagues every day.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that your potential is limitless—don’t be afraid to try anything. I’ve learned that many young professionals hesitate to go back to school or pursue further education, but continuing to grow in your field is essential.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To young women beginning their careers in this field, my greatest advice is to never hesitate to ask questions. No one starts out knowing everything, and the skills you need to succeed are developed through experience and continuous self-learning. Embrace every opportunity to grow, whether that’s seeking mentorship, pursuing further education, or simply listening to the stories of other professionals. I still find inspiration in motivational talks and shared experiences, and I use those insights to encourage and support the women I work alongside.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest personal challenges I’ve noticed over the last year is how stress affects me differently than it used to—whether that’s related to age or simply the demands of the times we’re in. Human resources is a constantly evolving field, and navigating new laws and policy changes can be especially demanding when working with professionals who are used to doing things the old way. Convincing leadership to adopt necessary changes often requires patience and strong communication. For example, there have been times when a manager wanted to terminate an employee immediately, but I’ve had to step back, ensure compliance with current laws, and balance the company’s goals with protecting the employee’s rights. It’s a constant reminder that in HR, we must remain open-minded, adaptable, and focused on fairness.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In both my professional and personal life, I value continuous learning and curiosity. I enjoy exploring documentaries that broaden my understanding of human behavior, culture, and leadership, and I regularly turn to reading and writing as ways to reflect and grow. These habits not only fuel my personal development but also enhance my ability to connect with others, think critically, and bring fresh perspectives to my work in human resources.
