Elizabeth DeCesare is an Underwriter in the Surplus & Specialty Lines, Primary Special Risk Division at Crum & Forster, where she combines analytical expertise with relationship-building to deliver tailored risk solutions. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Georgia, she distinguished herself through multiple academic and leadership scholarships, including the Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) Scholarship, committing her to eight years of service as a U.S. Army Officer.

In addition to her insurance career, Elizabeth proudly serves as a Military Intelligence Officer in the New Jersey Army National Guard, where she applies strategic planning, leadership, and decision-making under pressure to support complex missions. Her training includes completion of Combat Lifesaver Certification, equipping her with advanced emergency response skills.

Elizabeth is passionate about serving her community and country, while also building meaningful connections in the insurance industry as a Brand Ambassador and active member of professional networks. Outside of work and service, she enjoys fitness and distance running—she is currently preparing for her third half marathon.

The best career advice I have ever received is: "Do not fear failure, but fear regret." This guidance reminds me to take bold steps and embrace challenges without hesitation.

My advice to young women entering the industry is to take advantage of every good opportunity. Embrace new experiences, seek mentorship, and never hesitate to step outside your comfort zone.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the industry is the lack of time. Balancing competing priorities while maintaining high standards for work requires discipline, focus, and efficient time management.
