LaDwina Flegeance, M.Ed – Founder of Fruits of HER Labor
LaDwina Flegeance is the visionary founder of Fruits of HER Labor (FOHL), a nonprofit organization dedicated to equipping women from diverse backgrounds to walk boldly in their purpose. Inspired by her international bestselling book She’s Bearing All Fruits, LaDwina launched FOHL in 2023 to create a safe, empowering space where women can grow personally, professionally, and in leadership.
Through leadership training, mentorship, skills development, and career guidance, FOHL helps women embrace their potential, amplify their voices, and lead with confidence in their families, workplaces, and communities. The organization is also known for its signature Fruits of H.E.R. Labor Brunches, gatherings that celebrate Southern charm while fostering authentic connection, collaboration, and empowerment.
LaDwina’s vision for FOHL is to build a legacy of honor by showing that women of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences can step into leadership, create impact, and influence the world for generations to come.

What do you attribute your success to?
“I attribute my success to my faith, perseverance, and the people who poured into me along the way. My foundation has always been rooted in God, and it’s that faith that has given me the courage to take bold steps even when fear tried to hold me back. I’ve also been blessed with mentors, family, and community who believed in me, challenged me, and reminded me of my purpose when I doubted myself. Every accomplishment is not just my own, but the fruit of those prayers, sacrifices, and seeds of encouragement. Ultimately, I measure success not just by titles or awards, but by the lives I’ve been able to impact and the women I’ve inspired to walk boldly in their purpose.” ~LaDwina
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
“The best career advice I’ve ever received is: lead from where you are. You don’t need a title to make an impact, and you don’t have to wait for permission to walk in your purpose. Every role, whether in the classroom, the community, or in leadership, is an opportunity to influence others and plant seeds of success. That advice has guided me to embrace every season of my journey, stay authentic, and use my voice to uplift others no matter the platform.” ~LaDwina
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
“My advice to young women entering this field is to know your worth, own your voice, and never shrink yourself to fit into spaces that weren’t designed with you in mind. Education and leadership can be challenging, but you bring a unique perspective, strength, and purpose that the world needs. Find mentors, stay teachable, and surround yourself with women who will both challenge and cheer for you. Most importantly, walk boldly in faith and authenticity—because the greatest impact comes when you lead with both courage and compassion.” ~LaDwina
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
“One of the biggest challenges in education and leadership today is navigating equity—ensuring that every student and every professional has access to the tools, support, and opportunities they need to succeed. We are facing teacher shortages, burnout, and systemic barriers that make it difficult for educators and leaders to thrive. Yet, within those challenges lies tremendous opportunity: to reimagine how we lead, to center mentorship and collaboration, and to intentionally create spaces where diverse voices are not just heard but valued. For women, in particular, this moment offers a chance to step into leadership with authenticity, advocate for change, and model what it looks like to lead with both strength and compassion. The future of education and nonprofit leadership depends on how boldly we rise to those opportunities.” ~LaDwina
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
“The values most important to me are faith, integrity, service, and authenticity. Faith grounds me—it’s the foundation that guides every decision and gives me courage to walk boldly in my purpose. Integrity reminds me to lead with honesty and consistency, even when no one is watching. Service keeps me focused on lifting others as I climb, knowing true leadership is about impact, not titles. And authenticity allows me to show up as my full self, creating spaces where others feel empowered to do the same. These values shape both my work and my personal life, and they are the legacy I hope to leave behind.” ~LaDwina
