What do you attribute your success to?
“I credit much of my success to my strong-willed mother, whose unwavering belief in me—and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer—instilled in me the persistence, resilience, and compassion that guide my work today. Her strength taught me to lead with empathy, to never back down from a challenge, and to pursue innovation with purpose.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to know which of life’s balls are rubber and which are glass—because while some can bounce back, others must be protected—and to remember that when you truly love what you do, it never feels like work.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
“My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: own your voice, stay curious, and never underestimate the value of empathy in tech.” The healthcare and technology sectors are evolving rapidly, and women bring a critical perspective to the table—especially when it comes to designing solutions that serve real people. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and advocate for the user, whether that’s a clinician, a patient, or a first responder. Build your technical skills, but also invest in relationships. Some of the most meaningful progress I’ve made in my career came from listening deeply, collaborating across disciplines, and mentoring others along the way. And finally, if you don’t see a path—create one. That’s what led me to launch Pelican Sky Works. Innovation doesn’t always come from the top down; it often starts with someone who sees a need and decides to do something about it.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
AI Integration: AI tools promise speed, scale, and insight—but many companies struggle with: Loss of Human Touch, Customers still crave empathy, nuance, and real-time human judgment—especially in complex or emotional situations especially in medicine, Fear and Uncertainty as clients may worry about data privacy, job displacement, or being misunderstood by machines But AI also brings opportunities such as: Use AI to augment, not replace, human interactions—e.g., predictive health scores, sentiment analysis, and smart alerts. Train teams to interpret and act on AI insights with empathy. Be transparent with customers about how AI is used and how it benefits them. Customer Expectations: Customers expect more than just reactive help-they want: 1. Personalized Journeys, Proactive Engagement. You can provide your expertise to the customer by leveraging AI to predict churn risks, identify upsell opportunities, and trigger proactive outreach. Build customer health dashboards that combine product data, feedback, and engagement metrics. Understand the difference in being a partner not just a vendor.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me—both professionally and personally—are resilience, empathy, innovation, and service. Resilience was instilled in me by my mother, whose strength and determination continue to inspire how I lead and overcome challenges. Empathy shapes how I work with healthcare providers, students, and emergency teams. I believe technology should serve people, not the other way around. Growth means staying curious, embracing change, and continuously evolving—both personally and professionally. And above all, service is at the heart of everything I do. Whether mentoring future professionals or developing tools for disaster recovery, I’m committed to making a meaningful impact. These values aren’t just principles—they’re the foundation of how I show up in the world.
