Karlie Sikorski: An Exemplar of Leadership, Resilience, and Unwavering Purpose

Karlie Sikorski leaves a lasting impression everywhere she goes—on The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) campus and throughout the Huntsville community. Those who know her describe her as someone who enlightens and inspires, a young leader defined by exceptional intellect, tireless advocacy, and a positivity that uplifts everyone around her.

“Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of watching Karlie’s light shine on everyone around her,” says Kaleb Wade, former president of the College of Business Ambassadors. “She is an active College of Business ambassador who does whatever she is called to do. She far exceeds the requirements of an ambassador, which speaks to her genuine commitment.”

Sikorski’s leadership extends far beyond her academic achievements. As a dedicated member of Delta Zeta sorority, she has held multiple leadership roles—including internal social chair and vice president of programs—where she helps cultivate personal and professional growth within the sisterhood. Overseeing a team of 15 chairwomen and collaborating with the executive board, she designs meaningful experiences that strengthen connection and community.

“I focus on creating spaces where our 73 members can connect, grow and serve others,” she says.

Her involvement stretches across the UAH campus. Sikorski is an active member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, Alpha Kappa Psi, Women in Business and Leadership, and the Accounting Communications and Connections organization. As a founding member of Alpha Kappa Psi, she played a crucial role in shaping digital marketing strategies, coordinating events, and leading philanthropic initiatives, including providing essential hygiene products to students on campus.

Outside her extensive extracurricular leadership, Sikorski has already built an impressive professional foundation. She currently interns at SAIC, specializing in human factors, user experience design, and Python development. Her outstanding performance earned her recognition as one of the program’s top interns.

“The experience has not only prepared me for the workforce but also helped me grow as both a professional and a person,” she says.

Her innovative spirit has also led to notable accomplishments in competitive events. Sikorski won first place in the College of Business' Boeing 24-Hour Challenge, where her team developed a cross-platform AI marketing tool overnight. She later earned second place in the SAIC Joint Concept Challenge for designing an AI solution to support security officers.

“To me, Karlie is the perfect example of an exemplary college student, and I see her doing big things one day,” says Madison Fama, her close friend and fellow UAH student. “She is one of the most hardworking people I know, and I am proud to be her friend.”

Sikorski’s dedication to excellence began long before her time at UAH. While in high school, she completed the Middle College program at Roane State Community College, earning an Associate of Science in Engineering concurrently with her high school diploma. Throughout her academic journey, she has consistently achieved high honors, frequently appearing on the Dean’s and President’s Lists while actively participating in the Honors College.

Her success, however, has not come without adversity. During her freshman year, Sikorski was struck by a vehicle while crossing Holmes Avenue—an incident that required multiple doctor visits each week and led to unexpected online bullying.

“That was a difficult time,” she recalls. “On top of that, I faced significant online bullying because of it.”

Despite the physical and emotional toll, she remained steadfast.

“It helped me grow by teaching me not to focus on what others think or say,” she says.

For Sikorski, success is defined not solely by outcomes but by the resilience and growth gained throughout the process.

“Even if you don’t achieve exactly what you want, the effort and personal growth you experience along the journey are what truly make you successful,” she says.

Set to graduate with a B.S. in information systems in May 2025, Sikorski is also advancing her education through the UAH JUMP program, which allows her to begin her master’s degree early. She is on track to earn her M.S. in information systems in May 2026.

With a remarkable record of leadership, innovation, and determination—and a future driven by purpose—Karlie Sikorski is poised to make an even greater impact in the business, technology, and nonprofit worlds. Her story is proof that resilience fuels brilliance, and her next chapter is only just beginning.
