Kristen N. Forrest
"Kristen is a trailblazing aspiring therapist who empowers individuals through creativity and is the founder of Mindful Masterpieces, a cutting-edge, creative-focused therapy practice. With over a year of experience leading her own business, Kristen specializes in healing, personalized trauma support, creative psychology advocacy, and bespoke treatment plans infused with heartfelt art, AKA "art from the heart." Her artwork brings clients' minds, struggles, and triumphs to life, fostering profound growth and understanding.
As a seasoned leader, Kristen was sought out and asked to work as Lead Counselor for True Friends Summer Camp in 2024, showcasing her exceptional leadership skills and dedication to mentoring others. Her academic background includes pursuing a degree in Psychology with a focus on Mental Health Counseling at The Chicago School, where she was an active member of the criminology club and a distinguished McNair scholar, resilience fund recipient, and empowerment scholarship holder.
However, Kristen's journey wasn't without its challenges. When she faced unjust discharge from her academic program due to staff issues and retaliation, she refused to give up. Instead, she sought alternative paths to knowledge and certification in mental health, driven by her unwavering passion for helping others. Fighting effortlessly to bring justice to light, failing to expose the cruelty of this establishment, her low-income status has been a barrier. Hoping to excel and move forward from this status and stereotype. Hoping MindfulMasterpieces will be her way out and her way to help everyone.
With her unique blend of artistic talent, empathy, and customer service expertise, Kristen crafts nurturing, inclusive, and engaging environments that support her clients' unique needs. Outside of her professional pursuits, Kristen finds solace in drawing, writing, and exploring new creative outlets. She's a devoted mother to her daughter Skylar Elizabeth, now age 7. Sky is a hero and the reason both of them are standing before you today. In 2021, Kristen and her 3-year-old daughter fell victim to a horrible crime when they became the victims of an armed home invasion and sexual assault. Doing anything she had to do to protect her baby, Kristen endured hours and hours of abuse. Thinking on her feet, she was able to trick her abuser and convince him to spare her baby any more pain of witnessing this, and he agreed. Allowing Sky to use her tablet and sit in her room. Skylar, only 3 years old, saved the day by using her tablet to call a friend and managed to get them to call for help! Today, she is alive, and her baby is a hero forever. Today, she is here to enjoy traveling, music, and meditation, and has firsthand experience with trauma and is now dedicated to helping others. Kristen's passion for continuous learning and mindful living inspires creativity, joy, and connection in all aspects of her life."
