Serving Families With Integrity
My Experience as a Child Protective Services Investigator
As a Child Protective Services Investigator, I’ve spent years walking into situations where fear, uncertainty, and mistrust are already in the room before I even introduce myself.
Many families I meet don’t trust the government or the system I represent and, in some cases, their experiences have given them every reason to feel that way.
But every day, I choose to show up differently.
I’ve learned that real change starts with how we treat people. My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and transparency. I make it a priority to explain the why behind what we do, listen more than I speak, and remind families that CPS is not meant to punish them; it’s meant to protect children and support parents during their hardest moments.
Working inside the system has also shown me where it falls short. Overwhelmed workers, limited resources, and outdated policies can make families feel unheard and unsupported. I can’t fix the entire government, but I can challenge the parts that are failing and advocate for better practices, better communication, and better outcomes.
My commitment is simple:
- To be part of the solution.
- To help rebuild trust.
- To push for a system that truly protects children and supports families with dignity.
Every case, every conversation, and every child reminds me why this work matters
and why I’m determined to help make this system better from the inside out.
