Her Story

About Kimberly

Kimberly Talbert is the founder and owner of Blessings in a Basket, a custom gift basket business based in Weatherford, Texas. Drawing on years of creativity and a passion for meaningful, personalized gifts, Kimberly officially launched her business in 2023 after a successful career in education. Her professional journey includes experience as a math teacher and special education inclusion teacher, where she honed her organizational, instructional, and problem-solving skills. Frustrated by the politics of the education system and seeking a more flexible work-life balance, she turned her lifelong love of basket design into a thriving business that allows her to care for her autistic son, who has POTS, while delivering unique, memorable gifts to her clients.

At Blessings in a Basket, Kimberly specializes in highly personalized gift baskets for all occasions, including holiday-themed baskets, diaper cakes, charcuterie kits, and custom designs tailored to each recipient’s tastes. She distinguishes her offerings by creatively using non-traditional containers such as pitchers, trays, or boots, ensuring that every basket is both practical and visually engaging. Her focus on thoughtful personalization ensures that recipients experience delight and excitement, unlike typical mass-produced baskets. Kimberly has also expanded her reach to provide nationwide shipping within the continental U.S., while offering free delivery for local clients within a 30-mile radius.

Kimberly attributes her success to her creativity, attention to detail, and commitment to truly understanding the recipient’s preferences. She believes that every basket should tell a story and reflect the personality of the person receiving it. Through her work, Kimberly blends artistry, function, and empathy, creating products that leave a lasting impression. Her entrepreneurial approach combines professional expertise, community-mindedness, and dedication to family, making her business a model of thoughtful design, personal connection, and sustainable success.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my creativity, because like I said, you can buy a basket anywhere. But people call me because they know I do something different. I really listen to what people want and design each basket specifically for the person receiving it. When you really pay attention, you realize that with most store-bought baskets, people usually only like about 60% of what's in there and the rest ends up in the pantry or gets thrown away. That's not fun. My baskets are designed so that when a person receives it, there should be excitement, and then it should be even more personal because everything in it is what they like. I also get creative with the containers - I don't always use a true basket because you could only have so many Easter baskets. Sometimes it's a pitcher, a tray, a boot, whatever works for that person and occasion. I stay creative by looking at everything - art, basket magazines, modern looks - but really, because my baskets are designed for who's receiving them, it could be anything from contemporary to antique-ish depending on what they're into. I love what I do, and I think that shows in the final product.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Creating meaningful, personalized experiences for people, balancing family responsibilities with professional pursuits, and staying true to my creative vision.
