Her Story
About Roxanne
Roxanne Ibe is an entrepreneurial real estate developer, architectural designer, and construction manager, and the founder of Talisman Development Group. With a Bachelor of Architecture and dual graduate studies in Real Estate Development and Business Administration at Iowa State University, Roxanne brings a unique combination of design expertise, construction acumen, and financial insight to her projects. She specializes in adaptive reuse and historic property redevelopment, transforming underutilized buildings into functional, aesthetically compelling spaces that deliver lasting value for investors and communities alike.
Roxanne began her career at a small design-build construction firm, quickly expanding her expertise from architectural design to estimating and project management. Early in her career, she negotiated sweat-equity partnerships in two multi-million-dollar development projects that later yielded recurring dividends, providing the foundation for her entrepreneurial journey. In late 2023, she launched Talisman Development Group, integrating real estate development, in-house architectural design, and construction management to offer a full-service experience for clients while also pursuing proprietary redevelopment projects. Her long-term vision is to build investor relationships and capital to expand the firm’s portfolio of proprietary developments while maintaining select consulting work. She is looking to foster relationships with other developers and investors in hopes of collaborating on more exciting projects!
Outside of her professional endeavors, Roxanne is deeply committed to community engagement and mentorship. She volunteers as a CASA advocate for children in foster care, mentors young women through Big Brothers Big Sisters, and provides pro bono development and design services for several local nonprofits. When not managing projects or mentoring, she enjoys swimming, reading, traveling, and exploring the outdoors, reflecting her balance of ambition and personal fulfillment.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Roxanne
01What do you attribute your success to?
The secret is just hard work and being someone that others want to work with. I think growing up as an oldest child with a Midwestern work ethic instilled in me the importance of putting my head down, working diligently, treating others with kindness, and always striving to contribute more, both in my community and in my work.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I recommend seeking out retiring business owners who might be willing to take you under their wing and help teach you their craft. They can be invaluable as mentors and may present opportunities for partnership or even acquiring an established business.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to explore what genuinely interests you and not feel locked into a single path for life. Be open to experimentation and allow yourself to pivot as new opportunities arise.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are hard work, kindness, and mentorship. I also deeply value community service and believe in using my skills and capacity to make a positive impact on others.
