Her Interview
Ten minutes with Aaliyah
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Be loyal to yourself and be loyal to your brand. I walked away from Apple after 9 years even though everyone questioned it because I was losing my identity and becoming defined by the company. I had to find my individuality in my career not tied to where I work but to my purpose and vision.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Have confidence. Women in tech, corporate America, minority women cannot have imposter syndrome. You have to find mechanisms to expand your confidence, understand your area of impact, know your executive presence, and have a won't-back-down attitude because things are getting more cutthroat.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The job market, political landscape of America, career market, figuring out where humans fit in with AI. Clients pivoting due to political landscape and career climate. Navigating a world that is constantly changing before humans can get up to speed.
