Throughout her career, Abby has led teams and divisions for major staffing firms—including a 10+ year tenure at Kelly, where she held leadership roles across regional recruitment, partner staffing, and on-site workforce management. Her strategic planning and operational insight have driven measurable outcomes in efficiency, retention, and employee experience. As a hands-on leader, Abby brings expertise in workforce development, Human Resources, and data-driven decision-making to every role she undertakes.
Abby holds a BSBA in Marketing from Bowling Green State University, where she was actively involved in the BGSU Dance Team and Alpha Phi. Passionate about empowering others, she continues to grow professionally through freelance consulting and thought leadership in social media recruitment and staffing innovation. What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the powerhouse mentors that took me under their wing, the team members that surround me and certainly the premier companies along with our temporary employees we work with. Without each of these, my success would not have been possible. The hiring initiatives I have been apart of have provided me a deep understanding of both client needs and internal efficiencies, allowing me to build high-performing teams and deliver consistent results across multiple sectors.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I can’t pin point one specific piece of advice. It is about mentorship and I’ve been fortunate other have seen potential in been and taken the time to share their wisdom with me. Thank you to those who truly believed in me from the start- Gina Thorton, Kris Wilkins and after my career break to be a stay a home mom-the Varners, and Trey Smoak. Their support helped shape my path. Thanks to their guidance, I found not just a career, but a home in this industry.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is simple: get your foot in the door and take that leap. One stepping stone will lead to another, but you have to be willing to start. Don’t be so selective that you unintentionally hold yourself back. Network, join programs, and take full advantage of every opportunity—because each one builds your path forward.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are transparency, empathy, authenticity, and a strong work ethic. I deeply enjoy spending time with friends and family, whether it’s lake trips or sharing new experiences that create lasting memories. Professionally, I’m most proud of the success stories of candidates I’ve worked with—those who faced challenges but had incredible potential. Being their advocate and helping highlight their strengths is what truly motivates me and gives my work meaning.
