Her Story

About Abby

Abby Moffitt has been in commercial insurance since 2015. She holds P&C, Life, and Health licenses and focuses on helping business owners with coverages including general liability, property insurance, directors and officers, and professional liability, in addition to life and health products. After graduating from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, she built a foundation in corporate roles at General Mills, Target, and Concur, now part of SAP, which equipped her with skills in cross-functional work and client communication before she launched her own insurance agency. Abby was recognized as her company's Life Insurance Agent of the Year. She prioritizes integrity, fitting clients with the right products, building trust through relationships, clear communication, and a commitment to ongoing learning and curiosity about her industry and clients. She remains active in her community through volunteering as a reading mentor at an elementary school, serving meals at her church or a homeless shelter, and supporting activities at her children's school.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Staying curious and always wanting to learn more and better yourself in your job and personal life. You're never done growing.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Insurance offers many opportunities beyond selling home and auto, including leadership and relationship management in sales, underwriting, agencies, or carrier side. See other women succeeding in leadership. There are unique college classes like risk management or P&C license. Commercial insurance won't go away and is hard for AI to replace due to unique businesses. Check out different career paths.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The market keeps changing and people look for best rates thinking it's price-driven, but it's really about relationships and having the right coverage. The challenge is helping business owners understand that coverage and right products are most important, getting over that barrier.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Operating with integrity, fitting people with the right product, building trust with clients, communication, following up, doing what I say I'm going to do, and curiosity - being open-minded and wanting to learn more about the industry and clients without thinking I know it all.
