Abby Morris

Current Role
Executive Director, The Arc (local chapter). In this role Abby leads a small team, covering HR and finance functions, strategic planning, fundraising and development, and direct family advocacy and support. She has been in the position for about a year and a half.

Professional Focus and Philosophy
- Works primarily with individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism and their families.
- Emphasizes family navigation of state funding, creating free community services, and building safe, inclusive programs for entire families.
- Leads with the motto "head up, heart open," prioritizing compassion, empathy and balance for staff and service users.

Career Background
- Over 20 years working with people with intellectual disabilities and autism.
- Began career after graduating from East Jobsburg University, initially in a day program focused on employment skills for adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Spent 13 years at Friendship Community, progressing from direct support professional in group homes to director of operations overseeing 24 homes, two day programs and a large direct support staff.
- Transitioned to her current executive role at The Arc to expand impact at a legislative and community level.
