She credits her professional growth to the guidance of experienced mentors, many of whom are women with 10 to 20 years in their fields, as well as the collaborative environment of teams composed of women from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Kipka emphasizes the importance of authenticity, encouraging young women entering the industry to be true to themselves, confident in their knowledge and experiences, and proud of the unique qualities they bring. Ten minutes with Abigail
01What do you attribute your success to?
I have had amazing mentors who have helped me grow as a younger professional. They have all contributed something valuable based on their experiences ranging from 10 to 20 years in the field. I also believe the team you are on is equally if not more important than the actual job itself because of the collaboration and different experiences and backgrounds everyone brings.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think it is so important to just be who you are and be proud of who you are and what you bring to the table. Everyone has experiences and qualities that are valuable. Being true to who you are and being confident in what you believe and what you know because whether you realize it or not you have knowledge and experience. Everyone deserves a chance to sit there.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
It is super important to me to be surrounded by people that are positive and optimistic because if you are surrounded by positivity and optimism you are going to see things from a different lens. It is also important to just be kind because you can tell a lot about a person by how they treat people and being kind is super important in any role or relationship.
