About Abigail
I've been an athlete all my life and have known nothing but sports. I grew up around it with family members who played professionally, and my dad always watched football and soccer. For me, this is something that I'm truly happy doing for the rest of my life. I don't want to be an athlete myself, but I want to be able to provide my knowledge of what I know from being an athlete to the sports world. I didn't want to do the long nights and training and traveling, but I do want to still be a part of this world where I can learn more and learn different aspects about what makes a sport. At Fanatics, I work as a basketball editorial employee, and my job is to make sure all of our athletes are well presented on trading cards. I pick out images that will portray an athlete's hustle and their passion for the game. We recently signed contracts with college kids too, so now I also take on college athletes, not just professional players. Day to day, I go in and find images through hundreds and thousands of pictures to choose from, and I look at the designs that I have to work with. I team up with our brand team to get a visualization of what they want from me and what players to portray when it comes to these trading cards. My job is important because when these athletes go into signings and they're signing the cards, they look at themselves and think, 'oh, this person really captured me playing the game that I love.' I'm proud that this past month I released the biggest product for Fanatics - an NBA and college collaboration that had never been done before, and it received such good feedback. There was a lot of pressure riding on this one, so getting that positive feedback was like, okay, I can breathe.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Go into every room like you own it. Even if it's an internship, go into the room like this is what you do, this is what I'm here to do. Make sure your confidence is good, don't let anyone tell you you can't do anything differently just because you're a woman in a male-dominated industry. You could do better, if not more, than they can, so always have the mindset of I can do this. I won't let anyone tell me I can't. Always have a good head on your shoulders, even if things come out very negative, just think of what positive things will come out of what happened to you. Keep going, keep that good head on your shoulders, keep the positive energy, because all that good energy will come back to you regardless.
