Her Interview

Ten minutes with Adelina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my career journey and the lessons I’ve gained along the way, starting with owning and operating my own personal training studio, Strength Therapy, for 10 years, where I built a strong foundation in client relationships, discipline, and business ownership. That experience prepared me for my transition into technology, and for the past three and a half years at IBM, I’ve continued to grow by working with enterprise accounts focused on infrastructure support and lifecycle management. More than anything, I attribute my success to my ability to pivot, adapt, and stay open to change, understanding that career paths are not always linear but can still lead to meaningful and sustained success when approached with resilience and commitment.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that I can build a successful career in any field I choose as long as I approach it with hard work, discipline, and dedication. That perspective has stayed with me throughout my professional journey and has encouraged me to remain focused, adaptable, and committed even when facing challenges or transitions. It has also reminded me that growth is not limited by industry or title, but by my willingness to learn, stay consistent, and put in the effort required to achieve long-term success.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The advice I would give to young women entering my industry is that it is absolutely possible to change directions and still build a successful and fulfilling career. Your path does not have to be linear, and every experience you gain along the way can add value to your growth and perspective. I would encourage them to stay open to new opportunities, remain confident in their ability to learn, and not be discouraged by transitions or setbacks. Success comes from resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to keep moving forward, even when the journey takes unexpected turns.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunities and challenges in my field right now are centered around the increasing complexity of enterprise IT environments and the growing need for organizations to simplify, modernize, and extend the lifecycle of their infrastructure. In my role, even with under four years of experience in technology sales, I’ve seen how quickly environments are evolving, especially with hybrid infrastructure, multi-vendor ecosystems, and the rising demand for automation and AI-driven support. One of the challenges is helping clients navigate all the different support options and understand how to consolidate and optimize them without disruption. At the same time, this creates a strong opportunity to act as a trusted advisor—educating clients on IBM’s broader ecosystem, including OEM partnerships, and helping them build more resilient, cost-effective strategies. Overall, it is a fast-moving space, but it is also incredibly rewarding because I get to help clients simplify complexity and make more informed decisions about their long-term infrastructure needs.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are hard work, integrity, consistency, and continuous growth. I take pride in showing up fully for my clients and my team, and I’ve been honored to receive the IBM Culture Catalyst Award in both 2023 and 2024, which reflects my commitment to contributing positively to both culture and performance. I also value balance and discipline outside of work, staying committed to fitness and regular exercise as a way to maintain focus and resilience, and I enjoy reading as a way to continue learning and broadening my perspective. Overall, I strive to stay grounded in my values while continuously growing both personally and professionally.
