Her Interview
Ten minutes with Adelina
01What do you attribute your success to?
My kids watch me every day and see how much my growth has impacted them. I never told my kids they should be lawyers, but both my oldest and middle have said they want to be a lawyer just like me. That has been my greatest motivation because my kids see how hard I'm working and it's inspired them.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
From other business owners who have gone through the struggle, the advice was to tough it out, keep your eye on the prize, and just keep moving on to the next day. I did that even though it was hard, looking forward to each milestone.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Follow their heart, decide for themselves what they want to do, and see it through. Don't give up when it gets hard. And find a good mentor.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
It's a double-edged sword: not many people understand the value of trademarks, but there are more trademark attorneys now leading to more competition. Opportunity-wise, so many more people are starting businesses now, so there's a lot of need for trademark attorneys and the sky's the limit.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is number one for me, honesty and integrity. I advise clients honestly even if it means losing business, because I never want to be the kind of attorney that does the work just for the money. This honesty is why most of my clients come by referral and word of mouth.
