Her Story
About Adero
My background is in international affairs and security policy. I worked for international organizations such as the UN and ambassadors' offices to Kenya. I went to school for international affairs and created an app for affordable door-to-door delivery after a school project on using data and technology. After returning to New York City, I created a direct booking rideshare app to compare prices. This led to my work with TrueBuy, utilizing qualitative behavioral data to solve urban planning issues in cities. I am most proud of helping draft the Kenyan Constitution gender section while in grad school.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Adero
01What do you attribute your success to?
My diversity of experiences. Nothing really shakes me and nothing really stops me.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Really do what you care about. To do anything that you don't care about is kind of short-lasting and it's not sustainable. When you do something that you care about and that is passionate for you, all the extra accoutrements will come because you'll be good at it.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The challenges are getting people to understand in terms of urban planning when you're building cities you have to think of humans because people aren't robots. Often it seems like it's just quantitative things that are looked at.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Treating people with humanity. Always.
