About Adesola
I'm currently a senior at Ferris State University majoring in accounting and finance, and I'm graduating this year. What drew me to accounting was curiosity, above all things. From a young age, I was interested in finances and understanding how money worked and how I can make it work for me. Accounting really gave me that insight to see how money flows through different organizations and individuals. I really like the details of it - seeing all the intricate parts of this big puzzle of companies that make up all their huge finances. You hear every day of people trading millions of dollars, and I just wanted to know what went on behind the scenes of that, so that's what really drew me towards accounting and finance. Right now, I'm interning at Irwin Seeding Firm, a seeding manufacturing firm here in Grand Rapids. I work in their finance department, majorly with accounts payables and accounts receivables. I create invoices for suppliers as well as for customers, validate customer orders, create invoices for freight, and do employee reimbursements. I've been fortunate to receive the Excellence Award from the College of Business at Ferris State University, which for me was just like a nice little bow on top of all my time at Ferris and all my hard work that I've put into not only my academics, but also into extracurriculars, such as volunteering during tax season and being a student leader on campus in my role as a senior staff advisor in the campus dorms. That was really a great achievement - it's one I'll always remember.
