Her Interview
Ten minutes with Adianna
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to internal motivation and determination. Coming from a smaller city, I always had an image of what I wanted my life to look like, and once you shape that, you figure out the journey to get there.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received is to take risks and step out of your comfort zone. If you have determination, prepare yourself with knowledge and experience, doors will open. Believe in yourself, trust your judgment. I never imagined moving from Philadelphia to opening buildings in Brooklyn.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women to have confidence, believe in yourself, take risks, and stay professional. Especially in a male-dominated industry like real estate, and as a woman of color, it's important to push through fear and any detours like having a child, which can actually give more motivation to be a role model.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges include new laws and bills from city-state government on real estate and construction that require constant pivoting from game plans. Opportunities are abundant in New York City real estate; if one door closes, as long as you're prepared with knowledge, another opens.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Trust is most important, whether in friendships, family, or trusting yourself. Also reliability so colleagues can depend on you, integrity, and taking pride in your work even under tight deadlines, always crossing T's and dotting I's to produce something presentable and proud of.
