Her Story
About Adriana
Adriana Garza is a young professional with about two years of experience in the construction industry. She currently works in the financial department on the I-35 expansion underground tunneling project, where her responsibilities include expense tracking, payroll, invoicing with subcontractors, and helping to establish the OJT program for TxDOT. Her typical day involves working on site, managing timesheets from crew members, performing Excel-based administrative tasks, and attending meetings at various job sites. She also has the opportunity to explore the project firsthand by going underground with her hard hat and boots.
Prior to her current role, Adriana completed a construction management internship from May to August and a land development internship from August to December. She earned her bachelor's degree from UT Austin after beginning her undergraduate studies at UTSA in San Antonio and was a member of the Tau Sigma Honor Society for transfer students. During college, she worked at HEB and received Partner of the Month awards multiple times. Adriana volunteered with Ronald McDonald House Charities and participates in Trail Conservancy events. She is exploring membership in women in construction organizations and takes pride in being a woman in a male-dominated field, noting that she is often the only woman on her project site.
