About Adriana

I've been working as a corporate paralegal since 2010, and it's always been my passion - I actually wanted to go to law school, but life got in the way. I feel very successful and fulfilled when I work in the legal area alongside the attorneys. In my current position with a wireless infrastructure company, I have a lot of autonomy in many different areas of my day-to-day work. My attorney handles the HR human resources part of the company, and I have a human resources compliance background, plus the real estate part and legal operations, so everything came together perfectly. I truly enjoy the legal field. A couple months ago, I started a new venture as a travel advisor with Fora Travel. This was triggered because I went to Italy and Spain with my sister in March this year, and I planned the whole thing - I found it so exciting and fun. With Fora, you can actually be a travel advisor and do exactly what I did for other people, connecting families, friends, and new clients to a variety of perks through hotel partnerships. I did the certification and now I'm starting with a couple of trips here and there to get the thing going and practice, but I really want to grow that part. I also own Clean Haven Services, a commercial cleaning company I started 2 years ago. I had a relative that was working in that area and was treated very, very badly by their employer. I said, you know what, this is something - I'm bilingual, I speak Spanish - I could actually provide a job to my relative and more people and create a very better environment for them. Obviously, I wanted to increase my salary by a little bit more because I have two children and I'm a single mom, so it's really challenging. I got my first contract in Boca, and the person is really happy. It's pretty small, but I have faith that it's gonna grow. I'm relaunching the website with a new SEO company and working with Google. I accommodate my schedule between my paralegal job and doing side visits or estimates for the cleaning business. The travel work I can do at 1 o'clock in the morning if I want to. I work with many different websites like Yelp to get leads, and I'm quite busy always trying to answer quickly and stay focused.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Treating people well and creating positive work environments is extremely important to me. You can grow as a person and financially by being a good person and treating people differently than what I witnessed in the past, which was very disturbing. That was my motivation for starting my cleaning company - I wanted to do something different. You can create a positive environment no matter the industry. There's no need to be rude or mistreat people. I believe it's ignorance when a boss is yelling at you - that's not really authority, that's ignorance. I'm very proud of providing stable jobs and treating my employees well. With my children, I think it's very important to have animals to teach them how to be kind, how to treat animals, be gentle, and you grow that part in your children's lives. I will always have animals because of that. I also believe in doing small changes to inspire people and staying motivated, especially as a single mom with young kids who needs energy.
