Adriana Irby
Adriana Irby is a Brazilian architect who has built a remarkable career in the United States since moving here in 2006 to pursue her passion for architecture. Despite initial challenges with language and adapting to a rigorous academic environment, she persevered and earned her master’s degree in architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in 2010. Her early career involved internships at large firms where she steadily honed her skills and expanded her professional toolkit, laying the foundation for her growth in the field.
Today, Adriana serves as a project architect at HOH Group, a Hispanic-led engineering firm with a dedicated architectural department. She specializes in governmental and institutional projects and is currently leading a research-intensive initiative designing 10 courthouses for the City of Chicago. Her work emphasizes thoughtful, research-driven design and incorporates environmental responsibility, supported by her LEED certification. Adriana takes pride in contributing her voice to a field where Latinas are significantly underrepresented, bringing both perspective and expertise to every project she undertakes.
Adriana is deeply committed to advancing diversity and excellence in architecture. As a Brazilian architect thriving in a predominantly white, male-dominated industry, she combines technical expertise with cultural insight, advocating for greater inclusion and mentorship within the profession. Her professional focus continues to center on meaningful, impactful projects that serve communities while reflecting her dedication to sustainability, research, and design innovation.
