Her Story

About Adriana

Adriana Lua is a seasoned marketing professional and currently serves as Senior Marketing Manager at Quantix. With over 15 years of experience in marketing, she has developed a versatile career spanning multiple industries and functions. Beginning her career in Los Angeles, she gained early experience creating product catalogs and managing websites for a shoe designer before transitioning to a jewelry manufacturer, where she oversaw trade shows and supported sales enablement initiatives. After relocating to Texas, she spent five years in the oil and gas industry, managing international trade shows and supporting market expansion efforts across Australia, Germany, India, Qatar, and Dubai. Lua later joined Plantgistix, which was subsequently acquired by Quantix, formerly A&R Logistics. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in establishing the marketing department from the ground up and contributed significantly to the company's rebranding efforts. Her experience encompasses strategic marketing, brand development, international events, sales enablement, communications, and market expansion. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Communication with a concentration in Integrated Communication and Advertising from Purdue University. Lua attributes her professional success to her genuine passion for marketing and her ability to become deeply immersed in the work and projects she leads. Throughout her career, she has benefited from guidance emphasizing the importance of using analytics strategically and recognizing when perfectionism can hinder progress. She encourages young professionals to develop a broad understanding of marketing rather than limiting themselves to a single specialty, particularly as artificial intelligence continues to reshape the industry. Her adaptable mindset, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning have enabled her to navigate evolving marketing landscapes while creating meaningful value for the organizations she serves.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Adriana

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my genuine passion for what I do. I truly enjoy marketing and become deeply immersed in the projects I work on, often losing track of time because I am so engaged in finding creative solutions and bringing ideas to life. That enthusiasm keeps me motivated, drives me to continually learn and improve, and allows me to approach my work with energy, focus, and dedication.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received came from two influential mentors at different stages of my career. While working for a jewelry manufacturer in Los Angeles, I worked with a highly knowledgeable leader who taught me to approach analytics and business challenges from a different perspective. He recognized my potential in marketing and encouraged me to pursue the field, giving me the confidence to speak up, share my ideas, and advocate for meaningful change. Later, a career coach taught me the importance of letting go of perfectionism and embracing a more balanced and enjoyable approach to my work. Together, these lessons have encouraged me to think strategically, trust my perspective, and remain open to growth while not losing sight of the enjoyment that comes with my career.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering marketing not to limit themselves to one area or specialize too narrowly. Take the time to learn every facet of marketing, from strategy and analytics to branding, communications, digital marketing, and business development. With the rapid advancement of AI, having a broad understanding of the discipline is more valuable than ever because AI can function like an exceptionally capable team member that helps execute across many areas. The more well-rounded your knowledge and skill set, the better equipped you will be to adapt, identify opportunities, and continue growing throughout your career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in marketing right now is the rapid advancement of AI, which is transforming how professionals approach strategy, content creation, analytics, and execution. At the same time, the evolving nature of the industry requires marketers to remain adaptable and open to learning across multiple disciplines. My career coach also taught me that success does not require everything to be perfect. As someone who is highly efficient and results driven, I have learned the importance of knowing when to step back, let go of perfectionism, embrace a sense of fun, and take the time to fully appreciate the work and experiences along the way.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Flexibility, balance, and continuous growth are among the values most important to me in both my work and personal life. I greatly appreciate the flexibility that remote work provides, allowing me to maintain a healthy work-life balance, be present and attentive as a mother, and continue pursuing a fulfilling career. I am passionate about marketing and leading my team, and I value opportunities to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges. Above all, I believe in consistent personal and professional growth and strive to approach every responsibility with dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to becoming better each day.
