Her Interview
Ten minutes with Adrianne
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to all the doors that were opened for me educationally. Family played a big part in my success, especially the children in my life. Breaking the cycle and becoming a first-generation college student and graduate was huge - I wanted to let the younger children in my life see that it can be done and that they can do the same. That was actually motivation to me. I also credit my own determination. I was determined to actually get the degree and continue to go through my educational journey to get to the highest level that I could.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never sell myself short and to pursue opportunities that align with my passions, even if I don’t feel fully qualified yet. I’ve learned that growth comes from taking chances, staying committed to my goals, and not being afraid of rejection, since the worst that can happen is being told no. This mindset ultimately led me to follow my passion for education, transitioning from law because I genuinely enjoy learning and helping others learn, especially in supporting students’ growth.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are community service, education, faith, and family. I am committed to serving my community through pro bono legal work and advocacy, as well as using my long-standing involvement in pageantry to raise awareness about health issues and causes that empower others. Education is a core passion of mine—I love learning and find great fulfillment in helping students grow and succeed. My faith and church community, along with my family, keep me grounded and guide my decisions, and I am also deeply motivated to inspire other women, especially as a first-generation college student, by showing that with perseverance and purpose, they can achieve their goals and break barriers.
