Her Story

About Adrienne

Adrienne Gilliam is the owner of Palmetto Mobile Notary, a business she launched in 2024 to provide mobile notary services, particularly for mortgage documents and clients with mobility challenges. She partners with organizations like Notary Dash for leads and recently obtained her property and casualty insurance license, transitioning from Movement Insurance to build her own independent insurance agency. With more than two decades in project management, including a long tenure at Sprint where she served as a trusted advisor to national accounts and helped clients achieve significant savings, she emphasizes honesty, integrity, and strong work ethic in all her professional interactions. A high school graduate who pursued but could not complete studies at American Intercontinental due to her parents' illness, Adrienne remains engaged with her church community in Charlotte, North Carolina, and draws on family support and faith as key pillars of her success.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Adrienne

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to good friends, supporting family, giving thanks to God, my integrity and work ethic. I treat people how I want to be treated. It's all in how you make someone feel.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've received is to always be honest with your clients to build trust. If you don't have that trust in your relationship, it's really hard to grow your business.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell them to do as much research as possible. Write out your goals. Check with your state and see what classes they offer, because a lot of states will offer free classes for the notary, and that will provide you with a certification.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges include constantly finding work for the notary business unless working for an attorney's office, so signing up with organizations for leads helps. For the insurance agency startup, getting the ball rolling and partnering with different agencies to get contacts and decision makers.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My work ethic and integrity are most important. You're only as good as your word, and if you can't stay true to that, you don't have a lot to stand on. Mean what you say, and say what you mean.
