Her Story
About ADrina
Adrina Martin is a professional with nearly a decade of experience as a hairstylist and one year in life insurance. She built her own business to gain flexibility in her schedule and to demonstrate to her daughters the potential of being their own boss. Insurance entered her path after a family member shared their success with obtaining a life license, leading her to complete the necessary classes and exam. Martin attributes her success to superior customer service, consistency, and genuinely caring for her clients, which brings them back repeatedly. She is currently pursuing an associate's degree in applied science and plans to graduate in December, while exploring salon suite ownership after recently completing a related course. Outside of her careers, Martin serves as a board member at Mount Rose Baptist Church and volunteers there every third Saturday and every Monday for two to three years alongside her children, focusing on praying over the community and assisting those in need. She values God, dignity, her word, resilience, adaptability, faith, compassion, discipline, authenticity, and accountability. Martin advises women entering entrepreneurship to remember their why during hard times and to seek mentorship.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with ADrina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I can attribute my success to superior customer service. I find that my clients come back to me because I have consistency, and they say I always make them feel good, I make them feel special. Not just making money off of them, like, truly caring about them.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
First, there will be hard times, and in those hard times, you cannot give up. You have to remember your why. Also, seek mentorship, seek someone who has already been in your shoes.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My most important value, of course, is God. My dignity, my word, I stand by my word. My resilience, of course, my ability to grow and adapt. And also, just staying grounded in my faith. My compassion, the discipline that I have to be able to show up for people and be motivated every day. My authenticity, it is very important for me to always be true to myself. And the accountability you have to have in having your own business.
