Aftan Wright, Ed.D.
Aftan Wright, Ed.D., is an accomplished educator and administrator with over 22 years of experience spanning teaching, counseling, and school leadership. Currently serving as an Assistant Principal with the Moreno Valley Unified School District, she has led numerous committees, including counseling, safety, garden, and special education teams, while actively supporting initiatives such as AVID, AAPAC, and ELAC. Aftan is deeply committed to creating safe and welcoming learning environments through positive behavior support and restorative justice practices.
Throughout her career, Aftan has also made significant contributions as a school counselor and professor, helping students achieve academic and personal success. Her administrative expertise includes evaluating staff, reviewing hundreds of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and serving on the district’s Community Advisory Committee for Special Education, where she advocates for families and students.
Aftan’s dedication to education is complemented by her ongoing professional development, including earning a Master of Legal Studies in Employment Law and Human Resources from UCLA School of Law and a Clear Administrative Credential in Educational Leadership from UC Irvine. Outside the classroom, she has volunteered as a mentor with organizations such as United Way and Uncommon Good, fostering growth and opportunity for young learners and aspiring educators alike.
