Her Interview
Ten minutes with Agnese
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to work ethic. As an athlete, you have to work hard, and there's competitiveness as well. You always try to do your best and compete. In tennis it's not a team sport, it's yourself, and all that goes into it. You're just trying to do your best, and if something's not working, you have to find a way to make it work. It's never giving up but finding a better way.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received is from Richard Branson, who I've met and played tennis with. His motto is 'screw it, let's do it.' It resonates with my personality. You don't have to figure it all out, you just go and do it. When I first started organizing events, I just did it even without prior experience, and it worked out with waitlists, sponsors, and great panels despite last-minute venue issues.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I advise connecting and not being afraid to talk to people. Human relationships are more important than ever, even in the age of AI. Put effort into connecting with people, asking for advice, engaging on LinkedIn or Twitter, and putting yourself out there. Living in New York, you can go to so many events and meet anybody. You can hear 10 no's but there will be a yes.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Transparency and trustworthiness are most important. People want to know that you're honest and true. In the prediction market space, with concerns about insider trading or gambling and new regulations, it's key to do the best you can.
