Her Interview

Ten minutes with Ahlam

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have a super supportive husband and community. He is one of my biggest supporters and encouragers, especially when I have doubts about pursuing opportunities like traveling for fellowships. Having a partner that encourages you and offers support is really important, particularly when you have kids.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would find a better balance earlier on. There were so many points where I almost reached burnout because I was juggling so many different things. Learning to draw the line on your work and still making time for yourself is so important. You have to build an identity outside of your work, otherwise that can be very detrimental to your mental health and physical health as well.
