Aida Alens is a business owner who owns an insurance agency in Texas. She began her career in the restaurant industry before transitioning to insurance, where she worked at State Farm alongside her husband. In 2020, they opened their own agency, which she has led since then with a focus on operations, sales leadership, staff training, and client service. Aida attributes her success to always looking forward to what is next and the strong support from her husband. She advises young women entering the industry to never give up, build a supportive circle, leverage word of mouth, and treat customers well. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I think that I'm always looking forward to what's next. I never sit and say this is whatever I have. I always try to look for more. That's part of my success, and having someone that supports me like my husband gives you a big support, like a big pump so that you can do anything that you want to do.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I will tell them to never give up, even when it's hard, and when they see it hard, to always look for ways to go further and get around people that can help them. Having a circle is important. I tried to get a group of people that was more of moms and stuff like that, they helped me a lot. Word of mouth is a big help in this industry. If you do your work the way you have to do it, and you treat your customers right, you will have more customers coming in.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Some of the biggest challenges are that some of the companies are closing sometimes. I live in Texas, so I know Texas gets hit very bad with hurricanes and stuff like that, we have flooding too, so that's very hard, but I'm super glad that even if companies are closing, there's more companies on the side that we can lean on and get help from too. So we try to look for ways all the time.
