Her Story

About Aïda

Aïda Touré is the founder of Texture, a body care brand created to encourage women to approach their bodies with greater care, curiosity, and openness. The idea for Texture began with Aïda’s own experience with underarm hyperpigmentation and her desire for a product specifically designed to address the concern rather than simply provide deodorant. As she began discussing her experience, women shared their own concerns about underarms, bikini lines, inner thighs, irritation, and ingrown hairs, revealing a broader need for thoughtful body care and more open conversations around these experiences.

Building Texture has taught Aïda the importance of balancing a strong vision with flexibility, patience, and a willingness to listen. Challenges involving packaging, production, timing, and product development reinforced her belief that maintaining high standards sometimes means slowing down rather than rushing to completion. Her leadership philosophy reflects the same approach: she values clear direction while creating an environment where people feel informed, heard, and comfortable offering honest feedback. Drawing on her background in education, she believes people do their best work when they understand the purpose behind decisions and feel empowered to contribute.

Since moving to New York in 2026, Aïda has expanded her perspective on what Texture can become, connecting with retailers, founders, artists, and creative collaborators who share her interest in the intersection of beauty, art, and culture. Her long-term vision is to develop Texture into an immersive world that extends beyond products into movement, touch, creativity, and community. For Aïda, success means having the freedom to build meaningful work while remaining present for the people and experiences that matter most, and she is motivated by continuing to challenge herself, take up space, and discover what she is capable of creating.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Aïda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to staying curious, challenging myself, and being willing to step beyond my comfort zone. Whether speaking to a full room, sharing an idea before knowing how it will be received, or taking on something that once felt out of reach, each experience has helped me build confidence and discover what I am capable of. I also believe growth comes from being open to change, including reconsidering my perspective, letting go of old habits, and making choices that feel authentic. I strive to remain curious about what is possible and open to becoming someone I could not have imagined a few years ago.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to pay attention to the problems I keep returning to and be willing to explore them deeply. I’ve learned that you don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. Listen to the people you are serving, stay open to feedback, and be willing to change course when the real-world experience tells you something isn’t working.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women to take up space, speak up about what matters to them, and trust their ideas even when they are still developing. Pay attention to the problems that people may have learned to dismiss, listen closely to the people experiencing them, and remain open to learning and changing course. You do not need to have everything figured out to begin; be willing to put yourself in the room, ask for what you need, and let your experiences shape where you go next.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in body care is the growing demand for more specialized products that address specific concerns rather than treating the body as one-size-fits-all. At the same time, I see an important challenge in how these concerns are communicated. I want the industry to provide effective, thoughtful care without making women feel as though they constantly need to find new flaws to fix. There is an opportunity to create products and experiences that combine efficacy with pleasure, creativity, and a more positive relationship with the body.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value authenticity, curiosity, openness, and integrity in both my work and personal life. I believe in listening to others, staying open to feedback, and having the courage to change course when something is not working. I also value meaningful work, creativity, connection, and making choices that feel honest and aligned with what matters to me. Above all, I want to build something I am proud of while remaining present for the people and experiences that make life meaningful.
