Her Story

About Aiesha

Aiesha Hernandez is an entrepreneur and business owner based in Grand Prairie, Texas. With 23 years of experience in the hair care industry, she founded satinandarms.com, a brand offering 100% mulberry silk bun makers designed specifically for military females and first responders. While serving on active duty, she identified a gap in the market for quality hair care products and developed her line after moving from Japan. She is currently a full-time student at Dallas Baptist University, a Christian private college, where she recently won the Texas Business Hall of Fame Award. In addition to her business, Hernandez volunteers as partnership coordinator for the Pretty Put Purpose non-profit organization and speaks for the Texas Challenge Academy, focusing on supporting at-risk youth. She advises young women entering entrepreneurship to step out of their comfort zone, connect with mentors, and build community.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Step out of your comfort zone. Don't be afraid to reach out and connect with mentors, even those not in your exact industry but who share your niche community. Maintain connections to build your community because you cannot beat community. Do not let a niche product stop you because you can branch off of niche.
