Her Story

About Aimee

Aimee Fancher is an experienced insurance and policy services professional with nearly 19 years in the industry. Her main area of expertise is small business commercial insurance and customer service. She began her career straight out of college as an assistant to account managers before building her own book of business. Aimee holds a bachelor's degree in advertising and psychology communication, which she earned in 2007. She maintains a property and casualty license and has earned the CISR designation after completing five courses and exams, followed by the optional CISR Elite. Most recently, she completed the ACSR designation, supported by a scholarship from the Professional Women's Alliance. For the past four years she has worked at Assured Partners, now part of Gallagher following an acquisition, where she manages client service amid a merger involving training on multiple systems and adapting to new guidelines. Aimee attributes her success to hard work and a go-getter attitude, and she values continuous learning to stay current in a changing field that includes new technology and cyber risks.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Aimee

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to hard work and a go-getter attitude. I'm not one to just sit around. I have to be doing something, whether it's reading or working. I also believe in never stopping learning, which is why I pursue designations like the ACSR.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice is to never stop learning about it. That's why I pursue designations and recently got the ACSR for a boost and to achieve something for myself. Insurance can be boring but it's always changing with new technology and cyber, so keep going with education, learn new things, and do something for yourself to show you still care and set yourself apart.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell them that actual human interaction is still important. Not everything has to be digital or text. Sometimes an actual phone call is better. Don't be lazy. Still have human interaction, and just be respectful. People are people.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge right now is that Gallagher just bought Assured Partners, so we are in the middle of a merger. We have a lot of training, switching systems, learning 5 different systems simultaneously while serving clients and handling backlog. We're getting used to their new guidelines and how they have it segmented, converting to Gallagher's ways.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Be honest and helpful. Be true to yourself. Treat people with respect, even if they're having a bad day or screaming over the phone about a claim. Tell them you are in their court. At home, setting the example for my girls by getting those designations and studying shows them the value of hard work.
