Her Story

About Aimee

I've been in the beauty and wellness industry since I was 18 years old, and I'm now in my 40s, so I've accumulated many years of experience in this field. My journey began when I was trying to decide between college and cosmetology school. My great-grandma told me that during the Depression, she always paid for lipstick and getting her hair done, which made me realize this is an industry that's never going away. I was making more as an assistant than I would be as a middle school math teacher, so I decided to drop out of college and go to beauty school. I earned my cosmetology license and later challenged the Arizona State Board to get my cosmetology instructor license in 2013, which required five years of experience and demonstrating that I could instruct a class. I worked my way up through corporate beauty as a regional sales manager and district manager before transitioning to the franchise business world about a year and a half ago.

What I really love about franchise work is being able to help other people drive their bottom line and watch a business literally grow for themselves. Someone puts all their faith into a brand, and as the franchisor, our responsibility is to support and help them make their money and be able to have positive growth year after year. I have 2 stepkids and 2 of my own, so 4 kids keep me busy. In my free time, I like to run and go to the gym. I continue to invest in personal development courses on my own because I believe that when you become a leader, nobody teaches you how to lead, so I've done a lot of courses about personal development and how to be a better leader.

01What do you attribute your success to?

If it doesn't work, try a different way. That's just real. Failure isn't failure, it's literally you're learning, and as long as you don't repeat it, you're growing. I believe in constantly adapting and finding new approaches when something isn't working. This mindset has been the key factor to my success throughout the years, allowing me to navigate challenges and continue moving forward in both the beauty industry and the franchise world.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Trust your gut. That's the most important advice I can give to young women starting their careers in this field. Your intuition is powerful, and learning to listen to it will guide you in the right direction throughout your career journey.
