Her Interview

Ten minutes with Aisha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say my family, and I'm radically optimistic. The best opportunities I've had access to, I only got because I was brave enough to show up fully as myself, and to bring my story into a space.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to abandon the notion of fitting in. The best opportunities I've had access to, I only got because I was brave enough to show up fully as myself, and to bring my story into a space.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges is advocacy in public education leadership and how limited student representation is. That creates significant opportunities for young professionals that want to make positive change through student and youth advocacy. There's so much work to be done and massive opportunities available.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I would say integrity and excellence. You have to approach every task, from the smallest to largest, with integrity. I try to coach all of my work from high morals.
