Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I truly believe my success comes from loving what I do. Before I ever planned a meeting, I was a professional dancer. Being on stage taught me discipline and presence—but it was everything happening behind the curtain that captured my heart. I became fascinated by the timing, coordination, and teamwork required to create a seamless experience for the audience.

Watching a production come together showed me the power of thoughtful preparation and intentional design. I realized that when every detail is handled with care, the audience doesn’t just attend an event—they feel it.

That perspective has stayed with me throughout my career. Whether I’m planning a healthcare conference or a corporate program, I approach every event the way I once approached a performance: with precision, creativity, and a deep commitment to delivering an experience that leaves a lasting impression.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering this industry to believe in themselves and give themselves permission to grow. Work hard, yes—but also be patient with your journey. Set clear goals, stay curious, and don’t be discouraged by the learning curve. Every experience, even the challenging ones, is shaping you.

Most importantly, know your worth. Your voice, perspective, and leadership matter. If you stay committed to your vision and continue showing up with passion and integrity, you’ll be amazed at what you’re capable of building.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the event planning field right now is navigating an increasingly complex landscape—where client expectations are higher than ever, timelines are tighter, and compliance requirements, particularly in healthcare, continue to evolve. Planners are expected to be both highly strategic and incredibly adaptable, balancing multiple priorities while delivering seamless, elevated experiences.

At the same time, there is a powerful opportunity within that complexity. Advances in technology, data insights, and hybrid capabilities allow us to create more personalized, engaging, and accessible events. There’s also a growing emphasis on intentionality—designing experiences that are not only well-executed, but meaningful and impactful.

On a personal level, one of the greatest challenges I navigate is balancing the intensity and responsibility of this work with being fully present for the people who mean the most to me. This career requires precision, long hours, and constant problem-solving—but my greatest joy comes from the time I spend with my son, Javian, my brother Troy, my sister Chiquita, and my beloved sugar glider, Nightwing.

Javian inspires me to lead with integrity and build a legacy he can be proud of. Troy is a constant source of strength and encouragement, keeping me grounded through even the most demanding seasons. My sister Chiquita has been a guiding force in my life—especially after the passing of my mother—offering wisdom, perspective, and unwavering support. And Nightwing—my tiny but mighty furry son—has been by my side through every milestone and late night, always finding a way to make my heart smile, even in the most challenging moments.

Together, they are my foundation. They keep me centered, motivated, and deeply grateful.

Looking ahead, I see opportunity not only in continuing to elevate the events I design, but also in expanding my impact in a more personal way. One of my long-term aspirations is to open a pet sanctuary—bringing together my professional expertise and my passion for animals to create a safe, thoughtfully designed haven for those in need. Inspired by Nightwing and supported by my family, it’s a vision that feels both purposeful and deeply personal.

Ultimately, whether in my career or my personal life, I believe the greatest opportunity lies in creating experiences that truly connect, inspire, and leave a lasting impact.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My values are rooted in faith and family—God first, then family, always. After the passing of my mom, I understood just how precious and irreplaceable time truly is. The time I missed with her, I could never get back! That realization reshaped the way I approach both my work and my personal life. Being fully present, intentional, and engaged in each moment is no longer something I strive for—it’s something I live by.

That same perspective guides my work. I’m committed to creating meaningful experiences for my clients, not simply well-executed events. One of the most extraordinary moments in my career was organizing a team-building experience where a client group had the opportunity to interact with a pack of wolves. It was powerful and unforgettable, reinforcing the importance of connection, trust, and thoughtful attention to detail. My client said it was the coolest thing he'd ever done and would remember that experience for the rest of his life!

In both life and business, I believe the most impactful moments happen when we are fully present and genuinely connected.
