Her Story

About Aiza

Aiza Matthews is a Strategic Sourcing Manager with deep expertise in IT procurement, technology sourcing, and contract management. With more than five years of procurement experience, she specializes in helping organizations acquire and optimize AI, SaaS, cloud, and other technology solutions while balancing cost, risk, and business value. In her current role, Aiza partners with organizations to develop strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiate complex technology agreements, and deliver innovative procurement solutions that support long-term business objectives.

Prior to her current role, Aiza served as a Technology Contract Manager at Medica, where she negotiated contracts generating multi-million dollar savings and served as business lead for a ZIP implementation project. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Management, from Palawan State University, graduating cum laude and receiving the Governor’s Leadership Award. She further sharpened her expertise through the Certified Procurement Contracts Manager (CPCM) and Certified AI Procurement Strategist (CAIPS) certifications.

A recognized innovator in the field, Aiza developed a five-check contract review methodology spanning acceptance criteria, change control, milestones, and dependencies then took that framework further by building it into custom AI tools. This includes an IT procurement analysis agent in Microsoft Copilot Studio that automates cost comparison and contract risk-flagging, and an AI Vendor Governance artifact that evaluates AI vendor proposals for data rights, exposure controls, and governance gaps, streamlining how organizations assess emerging technology partners.

Beyond her technical expertise, Aiza is passionate about mentoring procurement professionals and fostering collaborative leadership. She encourages others to ask thoughtful questions, embrace continuous learning, and lead through influence rather than title alone. Her blend of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and forward-looking innovation continues to make her a trusted leader in the evolving fields of procurement and technology sourcing.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Aiza

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to curiosity and relentless preparation. Over years in procurement and strategic sourcing, I’ve learned that the best outcomes come from doing the homework others skip; understanding the supplier’s business as well as my own and never walking into a negotiation without a clear strategy. I’ve also stayed committed to continuous learning, even pursuing new certifications well into my career. Success isn’t about knowing everything - it’s about staying willing to keep learning.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I’ve received is to always ask thoughtful questions, listen with intention, and walk into every conversation prepared and grounded in integrity. Those principles continue to shape how I lead negotiations and build relationships with stakeholders today.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don’t wait for a title to lead. Be the person in the room unafraid to ask the hard, detailed questions, that’s where credibility is built. Leadership isn’t granted by a position; it’s earned through the value you consistently bring.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunity in procurement today is AI fluency becoming a core competency, not just a nice-to-have. Tools that analyze spend patterns, flag contract risk, and even draft negotiation strategies are changing how quickly and effectively we can operate but only for those who know how to use them well. I’ve seen firsthand how much value gets unlocked when procurement professionals combine strong negotiation fundamentals with the ability to leverage AI for spend analysis, supplier risk assessment, and contract review. The real challenge is that many teams are still building that fluency; understanding not just how to use these tools, but how to govern them responsibly. The professionals who will lead this next chapter of procurement are the ones investing in that skillset now, rather than waiting for it to become mandatory.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity and preparation are non-negotiable for me. I believe every conversation, whether it’s a contract negotiation or a mentoring session, deserves to be approached with honesty and genuine homework. I also place a high value on continuous learning; the moment you stop being curious is the moment you stop growing. Beyond that, I care deeply about lifting others as I go. At the core, it all comes down to the same thing: doing the work well and doing right by the people around you.
